Description Jeff Smelser 2005-03-31 06:34:17 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc (GCC) 3.3.5 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1)
OS: Linux

3.3.X I connected to freenode just fine, and a local irc server at work. After upgrading to 3.4, I cant connect to any irc server. I even tried to delete and re-add to no avail..

I did notice its connecting to some extent, since i got a nickname clash message. So its connecting to some extent.

Can you check that your user name is not empty. If empty try to fill it with
some user name.
Comment 2 Jeff Smelser 2005-03-31 17:45:45 UTC
That worked.. Thanks.. But is that right? I never had to do that before. If thats right, then the bottom caption should be changed since it says you only need a nickname.

Thanks for your help.

3.3 did not properly support username at all.

3.4 supports it, but it seems like some IRC servers do not like it blank.
Comment 4 Michel Hermier 2005-03-31 20:01:41 UTC
There should be a bug somewhere. I checked the code and when you don't set the
user name to null it should take your system user name. Could you say me if
your system user name is blank? because it's the only reason I can see it
could be empty.
