Version: (using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages Mozilla Firefox and Opera 8 supports installing user side javascripts which execute before the javascript embedded in the web page. This is much like using user CSS which override some of the sites layout, but with javascript instead. Some example uses are to add automatic links to other search engines from Google's result page, stripping unwanted text ads, etc. These scripts (correct me if I'm wrong!) should be cross platform, so it would be an immediate gain for the user if Konqueror supported this. A very convenient feature would be to be able to install these scripts from a web page, but some thinking needs to be done to ensure this is done in a secure fashion that interoperates well cross browsers. Any ideas? How should one who is not familiar with Konqueror development get started with this?

A link to GreaseMonkey: http://greasemonkey.mozdev.org/
I am fully in favor of this and would have it on my todo list if there was any more room. The basics shouldn't be too hard to do, although compatability with greasemonkey is a hazy dream. For downloading the scripts the most obvious solution would be to use KHotNewStuff.
Something similar to greasemonkey (and maybe compatible) has been developed and uploaded to http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=51482
I hope this item is next on the list of some devs :-) This is really a killing feature. It is one of the main reasons Opera is my main browser (and occasionally Firefox). The other reason is Thai language word wrapping, which Opera and Firefox got right.
Assigned to "New plugin wishes" since this report seems to be exactly this.
Can this be set to high priority?
