Description Wolfram R. Sieber 2005-03-20 15:50:34 UTC
Version: 3.3.2 (using KDE 3.3.2, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5 (Debian 1:3.3.5-6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.8-1-k7

Anyway I managed to associate folders with xpdf. So, every time I want to open a folder inside konqueror (using left click or just Return key) it tries to launch xpdf instead of just showing the content of the particular folder. Very annoying, you can think.

I have no idea how I did this - so I neither have an idea how to get rid of it (in common there are file extensions associated to external viewers, therefore the Settings -> Konqueror Setup -> File Associations doesn't help much).

Well, I think, that's a special feature of konqueror (not a bug), but if someone who's not familiar with that kind of association creates one, it would be nice if a "Are you sure? Do you know what you're doing?" window would pop up.

Hm, sometimes writing a bug report is just helpful... I just found a possible way of how to get rid of that association, but I still think it would be very helpful to detain newbies from creating such an unusual association (folder to external viewer).

My (possible) solution to get rid it is:

1. click on folder with 2nd mouse button (RMB)
2. click "properties" => window opens
3. click the screw-wrench button/icon right beside "Type: folder" => another window opens
4. select the unwanted viewer from the list
5. click delete

There is a plethora of file managers in Linux, Dolphin, Konqueror, Nautilus, Thunar, Krusader, so there is a legitimate use-case for changing the default app for handling the inode/directory mimetype.
