Version: CVS as of 2005-03-18 (using KDE KDE 3.3.2) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux When entering a string in the filter-textarea in the Files-tab, only filenames are currently filtered. It should filter on ALL the content in the files list, including directories. I have plenty of directories so it could be a quite nice feature if this filtering worked on all list items.
Isa bug
stiil reproducible in svn revision 563279
A search field has been added in 1.4.5.
i'd say 'search' does not invalidate the need to filter also directories, when using the filter field ;) i would advocate for reopening this report, as filtering is faster and happens only upon current directory, thus it is different from the search functionality.
Oh, you're right. It's also searching through sub-directories; re-opening for now.
Well, for starters: * when reopening a bug set the new version * also this bug is not a bug, but a wish * and last but not least, this bug got 40 votes, and only comments by people who are doing somewhat bug management yay I say, and close with wontfix, since there is obvisually no interest in both, having it fixed and fixing itself
I really disagree. This is indeed a bug IMHO. The filtering is meant to cut away irrelevant entries in the list but when all directories are unaffected, the filtering is completely useless if a large amount of directories are present. The filtering-by-files-only can by no means be intended, therefore this is a bug. Not a wish. Comment #4 has some pretty good points too. Please reopen this bug! Is it really that hard to fix?
Reopening.
I will look at this. If it seems to risky in stable (1.4 series) to fix, I'll mark it for LATER so it'll get fixed in the 2.0 series.

Still behaves the same way in Amarok2 1.86 alpha, having this wish implemented would be really nice.
Changing to wish.

This works now with current Amarok 2.3-git
