Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.5  (Gentoo Linux 3.3.5-r1, ssp-3.3.2-3, pie-8.7.7.1) 
OS:                Linux

1) Open a new session with an existing file like

% kate /etc/hosts

2) Open a new file with 'CTRL-n'.

3) Type some text: 'foobar'

4) Press 'CTRL-s'.

The file dialog comes up

5) Press 'ESC'

*crash*

I can reproduce this with KDE 3.3.2 (without backtrace).
I can *not* reproduce in KDE_3_4_BRANCH nor in CVS HEAD.

I wonder if fixing the 3.3 branch is worth it?
