Description Andre Jolivet 2004-12-16 12:20:31 UTC
Version: 1.7.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
OS: Linux

In kmail compose window, address autocomplement works only on first name, not on any part of the address. Example : Toto Leduc email toto@yahoo.com. If you type toto, it is OK, but not if you type leduc or yahoo.
In the Adress selection windows, it is much better (selection by any part of name or address), but I see the following problems :

-In case of several addresses for the same contact, only the name appears, not the address. You only see the same name several times. How can you select the correct address ? No way. You can try, and they appear in the right window, but most of the time it is not readable (troncated) See next comment. The name and each address should appear.
-If the window is too small, you can enlarge it, but the two internal windows should be able to be redimensioned individually to be able to see more details in the desired window.

in KDE 3.5.6 lookup addresses will be based on nickname, first/lastname, email, domain (see Bug 77342).
I don't understand the part about the window. Could you please provide a screenshot.

Sorry, this unpleasant behaviour of kmail has been solved some time ago, I should have already closed this report. I'm currently using 3.5.2 and kmail works like a charm. I use it for home and for office and I cannot see a better mail client. Maybe an integrated bayesian spam filter ?
