Sentry Crash Report:

Description Craig Wilcox 2004-12-13 04:41:39 UTC
Version: K3b 0.11.15cvs (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

cdrecord does not run with root privileges
It is highly recommended to configure cdrecord to run with root privileges. Only then cdrecord runs with high priority which increases the overall stability of the burning process. Apart from that it allows changing the size of the used burning buffer. A lot of user problems could be solved this way. This is also true when using SuSE's resmgr.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.
cdrdao does not run with root privileges
It is highly recommended to configure cdrdao to run with root privileges to increase the overall stability of the burning process.
Solution: Use K3bSetup to solve this problem.

How do I change the chmod to a user? What should the chmod be? xwr? Will this fix my problem? I am using SuSe 9.2 and there is NO k3bsetup.

i have the same problem, running kernal 2.6.8-24.11-default on suse with kde 3.3 and the cd burner is a USB based one, but it worked on other distros.

I recommend this bug to be closed as invalid.

Reason:
In the initial report, you said that there was no k3bsetup, which can fix this
issue. Please file a bug with SuSE as they should provide a method of running
k3b properly, if they decide to remove k3bsetup.
