Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from:    SuSE RPMs

Available  buttons in the toolbar configuration include:
filter mark mail as spam
mark mail as spam
filter mark mail as not spam
mark mail as ham

They even use the same icons.

How should an unexperienced user know what is used to pipe and what not, if s/he has for example deleted that toolbar_filter_actions item?

The part regarding the deleted action list is a duplicate. The problem of being able to manipulate filter actions in the Edit Toolbar dialog doesn't exist any longer in CVS (not available before KDE 3.4).
