Sentry Crash Report:

Description James Richard Tyrer 2004-08-17 02:14:17 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: GCC-3.3.4
OS: Linux

Sorry but this just doesn't seem to be fixed:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53087#c3

But it doesn't seem to be a problem with FAM anymore.

The problem appears to be with the Navigation Panel and it is very specific. You can mount devices with the Navigation Panel and they will unmount in some cases.

However if you click the "+" to the left of the device name then no matter what you do, you can not unmount the device without killing Konqueror. Everything else seems to work and you can unmount the device as long as you don't expand the tree (or try to).

Does your distribution use subfs or hotplug? (as SuSE 9.1)
If it does konqueror might not be able to tell that the path is on a removable device.

Comment 2 Jan Kozanek 2004-11-14 22:09:39 UTC
Yet another version confirmation. I'm experiencing exactly the same as described by reporter in KDE/Konqueror 3.3.1

See my comment here for detail procedure to reproduce it: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37780#c133
Comment 3 Jaime Torres 2008-07-27 13:42:00 UTC
Do you still suffer this problem in more recent kde versions?

This bug may be related somehow to http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78322
Comment 4 Jan Kozanek 2008-07-28 21:22:16 UTC
Still exists. Tried in Konq 3.5.8 which I had at hand, using steps from Comment #2 I could reproduce the same problem as before.
Comment 5 FiNeX 2009-09-17 14:37:34 UTC
On KDE 4 the navigation panel doesn't exists anymore in konqueror.

All reports about file management mode reported against KDE 3 (konqueror) has been closed: konqueror in KDE 3 is no more developed and mantained. All bugs and wishes which could be interesting for Dolphin in KDE 4 (the new KDE file manager) has been collected into a specific list.

Please try the new file manager before request new features and report bugs.

Before submitting new reports check carefully the already opened KDE/Dolphin reports in order not to add duplicates.

Many thanks.

This issue may, or may not, have been resolved in KDE-4. HOWEVER, you are in error when you state that the Navigation Panel does not exist on Konqueror (in KDE-4).

If the problem still exists in KDE-4, please file a new bug report against KDE-4.

@James: from your first comment:
"You can mount devices with the Navigation Panel and they will unmount in some cases"

Now in konqueror you cannot mount/umount anything from any panel in the sidebar (instead you can do it with dolphin, but that is the places panel).

It is true that it has don't be removed, but it has the subpanel used for mounting/umouting.

Anyway the bug is not reproducible in KDE 4 :-)
