Description Till Gerken 2004-07-05 14:56:26 UTC
Version: (using KDE Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

In case a server admin decides to temporarily closes the server (for maintenance or similar) and a Kopete user checked the "reconnect on disconnect" option, Kopete blindly keeps retrying until it succeeds.

Depending on the type of problem on the server, this can in the worst case lead to a DoS attack. Kopete should stop attempting to reconnect if a certain number of consecutive attempts failed.

Same feature, different problems.

I've downgraded this to a wishlist; I'm not convinced it's a bug. Upon a persistent error (DNS failure, bad username, etc) auto-reconnect gives up. In other cases, the user can manually disconnect the account and it should stop trying.

This seems fixed in KDE SC 4.6.1. Closing this bug, reopen if you think it is still valid.
