What a coincidence, I just wanted to create a wish item to ask for this feature. It comes with the famous OS from redmond, where you can right click on a image or images after which 'copy to email program' must be selected. That pops up a dialogue asking whether the images must be scaled or leave as is. The dialog has an advanced part that asks for the size (small, medium, big) of image(s) that are going to be attached. (now you know where it comes from ;) It's similar to the attach to email service menu, but with more functionality...: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=11234 Happy to see that this feature is already in the wishlist ! I just installed Kmail for my parents and their biggest concern is to send digital photos. With this feature, they could really get it done because file management is already a big pain so I just don't dare to speak about image resizing nor do I want them to pollute the network with huge images :) Just wanted to add myself! It really is a good feature - someone please pick it up! :) how about adding a "scale" column with a checkbox to the attachments table at the bottom of the message writer window, next to the "sign" and "compress" columns? Thanks a bunch! My mother would also be thankful for this! You might be interested in the digikam photo sending feature, which does this. It works sort of the other way round - you choose the photos you want in digikam, then select the "send photos" option (I forget the exact name), and it runs a kmail composer with the scaled photos attached. This is great advice, Philip - thanks! While this will be useful, especially since my mom does use digikam, this feature should be implemented into kmail in my opinion. The digikam feature is nice, but it should work with drag and drop, I mostly get this scenario. 1. Someone sends me email about subject A 2. I open KPhotoalbum vind pictures about Subject A 3. Open with krita, resize, save to /tmp 4. Repeat when multiple foto's are concerned 5. Attach in mail Skipping step 3 and 4 by just selecting multiple foto's and dragging them to the compose window would be not only saving time, but also make me attach photo's more often. If we do get a dialog, something like "Small", "Medium" and "Original" would be nice, it would be even nicer if these values can be changed in the configuration screen. Poweruser could change it then, and people who don't care could use the defaults. I also want to stress the importance of this feature! This kind of feature is how kde/linux can get the edge over other OSs. Most of the time, when people send me photos, they are extremely oversized. And that's not because they want it that way, but because they don't know better. And when I'm sending photos, I really find it annoying to open a photo editor just to resize it. *** Bug 103074 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Reassigning to KMail2 Will implemented in 4.10. Fixed in 4.10 Thanks. Looking forward to 4.10 :) It's a first step. Will continue to improve it in 4.11. |
