Just for the sake of updating (and because I don't know what the actual resolution status on this is), this bug still exists in KDE 3.2.2, running on SuSE Linux 9.1 Pro. Thanks, Dave Is this resolved in the upcoming 3.3 release of KDEPIM? Thanks. No it is not. A workaround is to disable the function 'mark automaticly as read after... seconds' and use a shortcut to mark it as read, but this had disadvantages, I know. Can you think of a good way to resolve this? If you have the preview pane open, the mail is auomaticly viewed -> read -> counter is lowered. If we do not lower it, how will the counter ever return to 0, the read message should be clicked again? The way other mail clients (such as Evolution or Outlook/Outlook Express) handle this is that even if the preview pane is in use, a message retrieval does not automatically open it. You have to click/highlight/select the message for it to display in the preview pane. Thanks. This issue has since changed (not bee corrected) since my initial report. As it stands now, KMail still opens a new email if your in the folder and it is empty, but it now removes the tray icon properly. Ideally, though, KMail shouldn't be auto-opening that new email.
