Version:           1.5.94 (using KDE 3.1.94 (CVS >= 20031206), compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.2 (Debian)
OS:          Linux (i686) release 2.6.1dell-optiplex

On a IMAP server with auto-expunge turned off I noticed that I kept having unread email in my mailbox.
After opening the mailbox with mutt I saw that there were deleted messages that were also set to 'old' (not seen)

If a message is set to deleted, also set it to be read please.

Do you refer to Delete or to Move to Trash? In the latter case unread messages should stay unread.

Move to Trash;
you are wrong that they should stay unread because it gives problems in the situation described above.
