Description Gerold Strobel 2003-12-04 10:51:14 UTC
Version: Unbekannt (using KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: Gentoo
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r2, propolice)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22-gentoo-test-r1

When a user accesses kde.org it should be displayed in the user's language.
Comment 1 Nicolas Goutte 2004-07-25 16:34:11 UTC
Has there is only a German and French translations of kde.org this hardly possible.

Also the KDE concept seems more to have fully localized websites like http://www.kde.de (There are more availbale languages.)

Have a nice day!

Ignore, just testing a theory from Dirk...
Comment 3 Stephan Binner 2004-07-25 20:44:17 UTC
Second test (disabled user).
Comment 4 Stephan Binner 2004-07-25 21:03:44 UTC
Testing if ^FROM_DAEMON procmail rule matched.
Comment 5 Marek Laane 2007-05-15 01:26:38 UTC
Is there any hope the wish will be implemented?
Comment 6 Sebastian Kügler 2007-05-15 12:07:32 UTC
Little, unless you can find 10.000 monkeys that speak all the languages you want and get them to translate (and maintain the translation) of the websites.

Right now, we're having trouble finding enough people to maintain the websites in *one* language.
Comment 7 Marek Laane 2007-07-06 20:03:37 UTC
Well, but is there some framework which could enable people to translate websites? There won't ever be "10.000 monkeys" if they have nothing to begin with...
Comment 8 Marek Laane 2007-08-06 00:01:24 UTC
So, is it essentially WONTFIX because there isn't translator on the horizon and therefore no sense to make translation even possible?
Comment 9 Juha Tuomala 2009-02-27 16:30:48 UTC
well, someone with rights could close this one if it's not going to happen :)
Comment 10 Marek Laane 2009-02-27 16:35:02 UTC
Well, let's hope someday there will be at least some framework enabling translators to translate :-)
Comment 11 Vikram Dhillon 2010-01-23 02:49:57 UTC
As seen above this is not likely to happen in near time so closing this one, if someone does find the resources to fix it, please change the status back to new. Thanks
Comment 12 Marek Laane 2010-12-06 17:36:00 UTC
It seems at least http://okular.kde.org/ has something like that - maybe it can be used KDE-wise?
Comment 13 Albert Astals Cid 2010-12-07 22:25:10 UTC
FWIW The infraestructure code-wise has always been there, i just had to do some minor touches to get it working in the okular webpage. If anyone is interested in enabling kde.org for translation just contact me.
Comment 14 William Entriken 2015-01-27 22:31:17 UTC
@Albert can you please provide your details here
Comment 15 Albert Astals Cid 2015-01-27 22:50:37 UTC
Which details to do you want?
Short story: Just use i18n in the code
Half long story: The announcements already do that, though they're processed a bit differently than the okular site since the translation is only pge specific and not site-wide https://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-applications-14.12.1.php
Long story: check the okular page, but there's not really much more to it

Catch me as tsdgeos on irc if you have more questions.
