Yeah, i've been quite annoyed with this too. *** Bug 72169 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 73251 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 73399 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 74279 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 74830 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 77286 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** still valid in kde 3.2.2 *** Bug 80136 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 87839 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 88442 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Hi, with current version from CVS HEAD you can drag&drop the single widgets, so if the layout doesn't fit your needs you can simply change it. Ciao, Tobias Thank you. And I was just getting the hang of a stable (read: non-HEAD) KDE :-) Is kdepim HEAD reasonably safe to use? is there any chance of backporting it to 3.3.1, since it annoys quite a lot of people and (for me) renders the overview almost completely unusable? (just a question :-)) I am sorry, but really need to re-open this. I requested that the frames be moveable *and* sizeable. While I can drag the frames around in HEAD, I cannot resize them, adn the default dimensions it is using are *way* out of whack. The right hand pane takes up about 85%-90%, regardless of if I want it to or not. What I am looking for is a simple widget to customize this screen. Anyone who has used salesforce.com to customize reports will know what I mean. Hi, we can't set a fixed size for the widgets, we've the class QLayout in Qt and it does it job quite well. I'm not sure what problems you have with the size, but with current cvs head, the resizing is done quite smoothly. Ciao, Tobias Created attachment 8133 [details]

see screenshot: lots of wasted space there, and i have to scroll around to see everything. and i cannot resize or move something around (kdepim3 3.3.1) on your screenshoot: now finally i see, what you mean by reopening it *juppie!* i always used kontact in maximized window (on UXGA) and never had to scroll in the summary view ... but if i resize the window (make it smaller), i realize, what you mean: the automatical arangement (at least in kde 3.3.1) is not really intelligent on this matter (see my screenshoot to see, how _wrong_ the arangement is made and how i think the programm should react (green markers)) Created attachment 8134 [details]
primitive automatic arangement in summary
green: my suggestion what in such case should the programm do
on your screenshot i see that you have the "old" unread mail summary back... I WANT THAT! (see http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=91676) How do I get kontact to do that? and the resizing/moving suggestion you make there is exactly what I feel about it... how come this has been marked as "resolved"? i'm using the latest kontact (1.0.2) from kde 3.3.2, and the summary is still ugly as hell as far as the layout is concerned... I vote for this bug to be reopened... the layout for my "Summary" is horrible. It's horrible because the right-hand column is twice as long as the left; if one or more of the sections from the right-hand column were moved into the left, they could be equal length. A more intelligent algorithm for placing the sections is needed (or for re-placing them once the data is in and its computed that they're very unequal). Screenshot coming. Note that I've had to maximize the window to get everything in - that wouldn't be necessary if the items were more intelligently placed. Created attachment 10388 [details]

in kde 3.4, the frames in the summary are movable. for me, problem solved... |
