Also, I looked at Smoove. It's not really very current, and this should be integrated into KDE. http://apps.kde.com/na/2/info/id/1677?sid=&sid= Subject: Re: New: Noatun should have relative volume levels i.e. "Whisper" to "Rock Concert" w/normalization On Thursday 24 July 2003 19:04, coolian@hotmail.com wrote: > Also, there should be a way to actually limit the sound levels with regard > to normalization, like in <A > HREF="http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=44726">bug# 44726</A>. Make use of effects: The Synth_STEREO_COMPRESSOR is exactly what you want! Something user-configurable? Just went through the standard interface for KDE 3.1 Noatun, and saw zilch. Menu "Settings" / "Effects", from there insert the Compressor and click on the
button with gripper to show its gui.

There's a program called normalize (http://www1.cs.columbia.edu/~cvaill/normalize/), which comes with an effects plugin for xmms called xmms-rva. normalize crunches mp3s and determines an RVA (Relative Volume Adjustment) which is added as a standardized tag to the mp3 file. Though dated, this is probably the best way to handle normalization amaroK should honor RVA tags. noatun has not been part of the KDE 4 release and is no longer maintained. KDE now offers Dragon as a video player and JuK as a music player. Additionally, other popular KDE players have been ported to KDE 4, such as Amarok or Kaffeine. If this issue is still applicable to KDE 4 applications, please add a comment or file a new report. For more information, see http://websvn.kde.org/?view=revision&revision=718046 |
