Subject: Re: New: maildir format folders show mail as "No Subject" "Unknown" sender etc, mbox folders work fine Are you sure you moved the right index files? "No Subject" "Unknown" messages usually only appear if there are some messages listed in the index that don't exist anymore (e.g. because they have been deleted/moved). If the index is really regenerated they should be gone. Subject: Re: maildir format folders show mail as "No Subject" "Unknown" sender etc, mbox folders work fine I guess I'm not sure if I moved the right ones or not, but I put them back after it didn't work, so in the end nothing has changed. Initially, the subject and sender information was correct, but when I clicked on the message to display it they switched to "No Subject" and "Unknown". It is likely that I'm doing the wrong thing to fix it (clearly as it is not working). Which index files should I be moving? Subject: Re: maildir format folders show mail as "No Subject" "Unknown" sender etc, mbox folders work fine I think part of your email must not have made it through. Could you explain which files should be moved? Assuming that the toplevel folder abc is affected then you should
(re)move ~/Mail/.abc.index* .
Assuming that the subfolder def of the toplevel folder abc is affected
then you should (re)move ~/Mail/.abc.directory/.def.index* .
Brad, is this issue resolved for you now? I assume deleting the right index files fixed it? Hi, Unfortunately, after removing the index files, I still don't have the missing messages. I assume that they are gone for good, and have given up looking for them, although any additional suggestions would be welcome. All the best, Brad This sounds somewhat like my problem. I get "no subject" in the subject line and "unknown" in the sender and date positions and then the text is just a large set of alphanumeric symbols. This often happens to old messages and occurs when I click on the line in the index. Hi I've just been trawling the archives to try and resolve a very similar problem. I relaise that this thread has been around for a few months, but cannot find a resolution. I have just upgraded from Suse8.0 to Suse Desktop Linux and seems as though this included and upgrade to KDE and thus Kmail (1.5.1). I don't know what version I was using before. Since the upgrade, I am getting very similar symptoms - also noticing that folders that are held in mbox format seem fine, but those maildir format are showing "Unknown" "No Subject" and a message size of zero. No idea why some are in maildir format anyway - could it be something to do with having been imported? Many thanks Chris chris@percipero.co.uk this is one of the top 10 bugs ;( *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 43931 *** |
