STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Be at the Plasma Login Manager.
2. Connect or disconnect A HDMI cable connected to a monitor/TV.

OBSERVED RESULT
"He's dead, Jim."

EXPECTED RESULT
Normal transition between monitors.

Thanks for the bug report. We need more detail in order to understand what's happening.
When you say "He's dead, Jim.", can you explain what's actually happening on your system? What exactly do you see when you connect or disconnect the HDMI cable?
Also, can you provide system logs for just before and just after the cable plug event?

When I disconnect the screen while on PLM the system dies and I have to reboot.

I can't reproduce this. Journal logs capturing connection and disconnecting causing the problem would be needed to investigate further.

sudo -u plasmalogin systemctl --user edit plasma-login.service

It should show some existing lines and a section to add things.
