Description Samuele 2025-11-28 12:24:54 UTC
SUMMARY
I don't really know how to properly show the issue, as I don't have anything on the system that can show the audio coming from each channel, but when I use the "VLC player" audio engine I only get audio from one side (the right earbud), while changing to "QT multimedia" solves the problem.
Sources I'm experiencing it:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open Kasts settings
2. Go to "General"
3. Change audio engine from "QT multimedia" to "VLC player"

OBSERVED RESULT
Audio gets directed only through one channel

EXPECTED RESULT
Audio should be played through bot channels

This is a known issue with Fedora. I don't know why, but it seems that it's related to some default for VLC output (into pipewire?).
I don't think there is a setting that Kasts has access to to override this. But I can double check again.

I think there are even open duplicates of this ticket.

Confirmed
Comment 3 Samuele 2025-11-28 23:11:49 UTC
If we can find an issue reported to Fedora I can go there and we can close this issue, if it really is upstream.
