Description Alexander Potashev 2025-08-31 10:03:25 UTC
SUMMARY
Mouse acceleration profile changes when upgrading from X11 to Wayland.

The problem is two-fold:
 1. Switching from X11 to Wayland isn't transparent for the user: They will notice that mouse acceleration profile is different, although they didn't touch any settings.
 2. As described in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464868#c24, the current Mouse KCM doesn't provide settings to manually apply the same acceleration profile that was used in X11, at least if they were as follows in Mouse KCM on X11:
   * Pointer speed: 0.20
   * Pointer acceleration: Enabled (checkbox ticked).

What specifically changed? A setting in the KCM, or the custom acceleration profile you set on X11?

Comment 4 Alexander Potashev 2025-10-25 21:44:26 UTC
Re-tested. I thought that KCM options were more limited on Wayland, but it's not the case anymore. Setting these is possible on both X11 and Wayland, and speed & acceleration feel similar across sessions:

 * Pointer speed: 0.20
 * Pointer acceleration: Enabled (checkbox ticked).

The only inconvenience remaining is that I had to tune KCM after switching from X11 to Wayland. Seems like the above settings (speed + acceleration) are stored separately for X11 and Wayland.
