SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. set your preferred  weather location
2. logout/reboot
3. Start the computer/login to the desktop in the usual way


OBSERVED RESULT
Weather widget is empty and complains it cannot get info for the location (previously configured).  Unable to update the current location.  changing to any other location will work.  then you can change back to your original chosen location and it will get the weather report just fine.

EXPECTED RESULT
Displays the weather for the selected location without a bunch of hoops to go through

(available in the Info Center app, or by running `kinfo` in a terminal window)

not sure exactly when this started, but it never used to be a problem

What location this is? Also which provider do you use? Does the problem also occur on other providers?

the location I normally have set is Kapuskasing, ON.  there are 2 providers, NOAA and environment Canada.   For testing etc, I switch to Timmins ON which is nearby-ish

it does! and it lasts until I reboot/logout/resume from hibernation, and 
then it just has "unable to retrieve weather information for" until i 
choose a different location

This seems to happen to me as well, running Arch in my case.  After a reboot (and seemingly after wakeup from sleep too) the weather widget won't show any data until going back to the location/provider selection.  In these cases the selection tool usually won't show any entries from the previously selected provider, which means I end up switching between NOAA and BBC every time I reboot.

Restarting plasmashell (with --replace) seems to get it to start working again, without needing to swap provider.
