Thanks for filing this bug report. The "new" banner has been improved in the development build, and I can see it in git-master. I'm attaching a screenshot of what it looks like with Breeze Dark in Application Launcher. I don't know if this will be included in 6.4.3, but it will be by 6.5.0. Created attachment 183068 [details]

Decisions about backporting are made based on the severity of a bug (data loss or widespread crashes would be critical, for instance), if there are workarounds, how disruptive a bug is, and such. Given that this is only a visual defect, and only seen after installing new software, it's lower down the criticality scale. If the theme uses a dark positive background then that’s that. |

First screenshot is with Nothing theme, second is with Breeze-Dark.
