If I connect a PC directly to a 1080p monitor, wallpapers and panels are 'sharp'. When a laptop (with a HiDPI internal screen) is connected to the external screen, all wallpapers and panel icons will look lower-resolution and somewhat blurry, even when their real resolution is 2-3x of the display resolution.
It's not very noticeable if you haven't checked with a non-HiDPI setup, probably something related to antialiasing.
