I created a layer, set color to blue, switch to the fill bucket, and filled the layer. Everything seems fine for me. I think we need more information around this. I am on Krita 5.2.6 as well with Windows 11 Can you play around with this more and see if you can get us more details. Are you using a mouse or tablet?
