This could be implemented in a plugin, similar to Recent Files This already exists, no? The very top item in Kicker is "Recent Applications" which shows, indeed, exactly 12 recently-opened programs. Are you saying this is missing for you? If so, can you attach a screenshot that shows it being missing? Created attachment 177329 [details]

As you can see, there is the category “Favorites” and below that “All applications”. It would be even better if the last 12 or so programs used were automatically provided in between.
My experience is that these last 12 or so programs do not necessarily have to correspond to the favorites, especially because they are not created manually but the system sorts the last 12 or so automatically.
Because sometimes you have individual programs that you need more often on one day and then not for a while.
However, the favorites are good for putting the programs there that you need all the time, such as Libreoffice, Firefox, Octopi, etc.

Aha! This is not Kicker but rather Kickoff. Kickoff also has the feature, but it's super hidden; you have to click on "Places" and then "History". This is not ideal. I support raising the feature up so it appears in the sidebar, where people can actually find it. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 442981 *** Well hidden. It wouldn't be a bad idea to move it right to the top. Then it would certainly be used more often. I'm already looking forward to the new version. Thanks for the tip. |
