What specifically freezes? Just the Task Manager? The whole panel? The panel and the desktop too? Apps as well? And ahat symptoms of the issue brought you to the conclusion that the symlink caused the freeze? have you tried removing the symlink and seeing if the freeze goes away? No, apps do not crash, VS Code and Firefox for example are perfectly usable, but the dektop, task manager, start menu and so on all froze. If I understand this correctly, plasmashell froze. Dolphin also froze. I checked my bash history, and seems I forgot the -s option and made a hard link. I've placed a new hard link on my desktop, and I'll report back. ๐๐งน โ ๏ธ This bug has been in NEEDSINFO status with no change for at least 15 days.
