My Boot Splash Screen menu with missing thumbnails

SUMMARY
Posted this into the Discussion as well to see if others have experienced this, but it does appear to be a bug in the recent Plasma update (I completely reinstalled my OS and the issue persists). When going into the settings, it appears that all of the Thumbnails (and the preview button) are missing for the Boot Splash Screen, so its difficult if impossible to tell what each one does. 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Install Plasma 6 
2. Navigate to System Settings -> Colors & Themes -> Global Theme -> Boot Splash Screen
3. Observe the missing thumbnails

OBSERVED RESULT
No thumbnails or methods for previewing the boot splash screens are present.

EXPECTED RESULT
A collection of thumbnails so each boot splash can be appropriately previewed without repeatedly rebooting.

For those reading, this may be the same bug as report 475441, found here: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=475411

This bug was for a previous version of Plasma and has been inactive for more than 6 months, hence why I am posting this bug report as well as a unique report.

This problem is still with us, and if you add topics via “Get New...”, the thumbnails will be displayed.

Hi - does the upstream project and/or your distribution provide preview images for the Boot Splash screens? Those would be present as preview.png inside each corresponding folder under /usr/share/plymouth/themes .

No, basic themes (like bgrt) don't have png files, only *.plymouth files.

Thanks - looks like there would need to be thumbnails added into the underlying packages themselves in order to be seen in this System Settings module.
