SUMMARY

I have an MSI GS75 8SE laptop with KDE Plasma 6.0.4. I have disabled the laptop's screen and have the laptop connected to an LG 34GN850-B monitor via Thunderbolt. In the BIOS, I have disabled the Intel card and am using only the Nvidia RTX2060. I use Wayland on Plasma. The Nvidia drivers on my system are version 550.78. Everything works fine. If I lock the session or leave and it locks automatically, I can log back in without any problem. However, sometimes, if a significant amount of time passes and I try to log back in, after entering my password the screen turns black and only the mouse cursor is visible, forcing me to shut down the computer and restart.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Lock the session or leave the computer so it auto-locks the session.
2. Wait a considerable amount of time.
3. Try to log back in. It will freeze after entering the password.

OBSERVED RESULT

Black screen where only the mouse cursor is visible.

EXPECTED RESULT

That I can log back into the session.

Does this happen after your system suspends to ram? Have you configured Preserve video memory after suspend for your nvidia card?

If I suspend the system and then recover it, it works fine. Regarding what you mentioned about preserving video memory, I'm not sure what you are referring to. Where can I see that?
