REASON: Krita will look for your previous files to load during the recent files thumbnail splash screen. Somehow, one or more of those files became corrupted, so deleting them fixed the issue because there was no longer files and/or file path to find. could you attach or link to one of the corrupted files so we can take a look? (In reply to vanyossi from comment #4) > could you attach or link to one of the corrupted files so we can take a look? Sorry, I deleted all the files from my Art folder. Even after deleting my files 5.2.2 still won't successfully launch past the Loading Main Window sequence Even after ourgug the software from my system and rebooting... I was thinking maybe there is some built-in time stamp code for trial-period use; I can't explain why it still will no longer run. I didn't add anything new hardware. I did play with the vertical mode (90 degrree) and noticed Krita's cursor didn't support it very good. Howvever reverting back to horizontal mode doesn't fix the crashing while loading Main Window. One thing important to note is Before I deleted those krita and tiff files, After removing Krita 5.2.2 and installing 4.4.3. When I launch the app the startup splash screen shows the 5.2.2 but I installed 4.4.3 So somehow those files were triggering the old splash screen and still crashing during the Main Window loading sequence. After I deleted those krita and tiff files; the correct splash screen showed and 4.4.3 loaded correctly; however I missed some of the features in 5.2.2! Thanks for your comment! Automatically switching the status of this bug to REPORTED so that the KDE team knows that the bug is ready to get confirmed. In the future you may also do this yourself when providing needed information. MORE INFO: I can't load 5.2.2 anymore due to the crash but I do remember now at one time when I selected "New" file I did changed the color "depth" out of curiosity and vaguely remember (I could be wrong) changing it to 64-bit something and perhaps that setting is causing the crash. Mow I know version 4.4.3 doesn't have 64-bit color depth, and perhaps version 5.2.2 doesn't either but I vaguely remember changing something to 64-bit. Hope this might help. From my understanding High Sierra is the only MAcOS to support 32-bit & 64-bit, and perhaps there is some residue memory not being garbage collected that causes Krita to keep old settings or files. If it is configuration related try to reestart krita to initial configuration https://docs.krita.org/en/KritaFAQ.html#resetting-krita-configuration, Application Support subfolder and Preferences are stored in different locations. Does that resolve the issue? There was a bug loading .tiff recent document thumbnails on macOS, bug 487544, that was fixed for 5.2.3, could you test that version?
