SUMMARY
It's hard to see the battery icon when the battery percentage is overlaid on top of it. An option to show the percentage next to the icon, similar to how the Weather widget has the option to show the temperature next to the icon, would be a nice addition, as both the icon would be fully visible, and the percentage could be displayed in a larger, more visible font size.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Right click Battery icon on Panel

OBSERVED RESULT
"Show battery percentage on icon" option is shown, but no "Show battery percentage next to icon" option is shown.

EXPECTED RESULT
Both "Show battery percentage on icon" and "Show battery percentage next to icon" options are shown.

Unfortunately this isn't possible as it would require the widget to become non-square which isn't possible in the System Tray for technical reasons. In addition, another option to work around the issue with a pre-existing option isn't the solution; we just need to fix Bug 438316. Whatever that fix looks like it won't be in the form of another user-facing option experts can opt into to fix the issue for only themselves. :)
