Hi, We already it from ~14 years no ? =>Settings menu > Configure Kmail > Accounts > Identities > Receiving-> => there is a popup menu => you can stop or not account when we close kmail. Do you need more settings ? Yep we don't store resource => when we have new mail for example in imap it will show a notification.
