Description Milton Hagler 2023-07-01 03:09:34 UTC
SUMMARY
***
Screen is dimming itself without any user interactions, even when the laptop is plugged in to power. It acts as if power has been removed and it is running on the battery. The power removed notification sounds, though the power is still plugged in, and the screen dims by on its own.

This has been observed when an external monitor is being used on the laptop's HDMI port.

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Plug in power the laptop from the power adapter
2. Attach an external monitor to the HDMI port
3. Wait for it to happen.

OBSERVED RESULT
Laptop screen auto-dims
The screen brightness can be returned to its previous setting manually
Occurs randomly, sometimes in 10 min intervals, other times at longer intervals

EXPECTED RESULT
The screen brightness not change and maintain its setting

When that happens, if you move your mouse over the battery icon in the panel, what does it say? - e.g. "Battery at 60%, Charging"

Also, when this happens again, can you please open Konsole, enter

qdbus --system org.freedesktop.UPower /org/freedesktop/UPower/devices/line_power_AC org.freedesktop.UPower.Device.Online

and post the result here?
