The old way scaled extremely poorly and caused the expanded list item to take up an enormous amount of space. Because it reacted to hover, it also constituted a large area that would flicker and annoy people. I think we're going to stay with the current design, sorry. This new layout is ugly, takes way more space vertically than the old, and, with each application taking up five or six lines, is very inconvenient to scroll through to see what's going to be updated. It's your program, though, do what you want. I'll use it to get notified of updates, then use Synaptic or Muon to do the update, so I can more clearly see what's being updated. Hmm, perhaps I could add a feature to hide the changelogs and only show the packages on the "More Information" page. Would that help? That should make it a bit better, as long as it's possible to toggle the info on each package by clicking on it, rather than showing info for all or none. It would also be nice to display the description of the package along with all the current info. That would be great. I don't mind the package list only being shown when you click something, and I do like the fact you can get the full info if you need it. But also having a middle ground between "full info of every package with changes" and "nothing" would be great. Just used the new Discover for a system update, Nate, and it looks great. Offers a quick overview of what's being installed, and the more information gives the package info, so we know what's being installed. Great work!. |
