task manager with grouped tasks

SUMMARY
I can reproduce this bug with these apps:
Gaupol
Audacity
SMPlayer
Blender
Handbrake
Opera internet browser

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. open apps until the task manager is full
2. open any of the apps mentioned above
3. open an app's child window - file open/save dialog or the preferences/settings window, for example

OBSERVED RESULT
The name of the app changed. The names of Gaupol and Handbrake change completely.
The difference in the name of the other apps is that all uppercase letters become lowercase.
Please see the attached screenshots showing the names of the apps when there are grouped tasks and when there are not.

EXPECTED RESULT
the observed result should not occur

When ungrouped, the Task Manager is showing specific windows, so it displays their individual names. When grouped, it no longer shows windows but rather apps, so it shows the app name. It looks like it's inappropriately showing the executable name, rather than the pretty app name.

Cannot reproduce. Are you using flatpak packages?
Comment 4 Patrick Silva 2022-12-06 12:56:37 UTC
No. I use Audacity from Arch repos.
Comment 5 Fushan Wen 2022-12-06 13:06:31 UTC
Nate, can you reproduce?
Comment 6 Nate Graham 2022-12-06 17:16:21 UTC
I cannot reproduce with an empty bottom panel containing only a Task Manager widget that's using all its default settings. Patrick, have you customized the settings at all?

my window rules

Found the culprit: my window rules.
I have many window rules to fix the icon of several apps on Wayland, I logged in with another user account, imported my window rules to it and the bug happened there too. Then I removed all window rules from Window Rules KCM and the "bugs"
of the task manager disappeared. I'm attaching my window rules in case anyone wants to take a look and possibly to find out what exactly is the problem with them.

With great power comes great responsibility. :)

Can you look through the other Task manager bugs you filed recently and see if they're now fixed too?
