Forgot to add the summary... Basically if one configures different settings for the case of open/closed lid, the specific configuration file for the open lid is overwritten by the one for the closed lid. Kscreen saves settings globally by default. If you want them saved on a per-screen-arrangement basis, you have to use the "for this specific display arrangement" option. Does that work?
