There is a "Snap Eraser" toggle about three lines below the "Snap to Assistants" option. That should resolve your issue. In past versions, erasers would always snap when snapping to assistants is enabled, but erasers tend to be pretty unwieldy when it comes to snapping, as you may find out when using this option.
