STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set locale to IT-it
2. Open system settings -> keyboard shortcuts (Impostazioni di Sistema -> Scorciatoie)
3. the entry for switching layout is missing a white space between two words. It reads "Cambiatastiera" but should be "Cambia tastiera" instead.

The original message is "Keyboard Layout Switcher", which means this is a noun, not a verb. "Cambia tastiera" may be read as an action, while "Cambiatastiera" is meant to be a noun. It could be (and maybe we had it in the past) "Scambiatore di tastiera", which was maybe more clear as noun, but more "artificial" as a word.

I'd let the other translators comment this, but I'd personally inclined to close it as not a bug.

I agree with Luigi.
This isn't a bug, but translator's choice.
Comment 4 Andrea Ippolito 2022-09-22 08:43:27 UTC
Not an official translator, but native Italian speaker nevertheless (ciao guys :) ).

I feel that "cambiatastiera" being kind of a made-up word, maybe a more suitable translation retaining grammatical coherence with the original (i.e. noun instead of verb) could be instead "Selettore tastiera". How do you feel about that?
A switch/switcher is technically an interruttore, but I think that selettore is a better match here.

Thanks

I'd like to throw in a "Gestore dei Layout della Tastiera"

Hello,

do we have a decision on this one?
I dunno how to join the Italian translation community, or if some member reading this could try and raise this discussion in the relevant chat/mailing list. Personally Niccolò's suggestion is also fine IMO.

Thanks :)

The Italian list is in CC too (see https://l10n.kde.org/team-infos.php?teamcode=it for the coordinates) and a few people chimed in already.

Can/shall we close this?

Closing for lack of feedback
