This is definitely not intentional on the part of KDE itself as an institution and we will get this vandalism corrected. We mean no disrespect whatsoever to the Polish people. Can you please provide a list of the fake holidays so we can investigate and remove them? Thanks a lot! I understand that Poland has no Anti-Defamation Leage or AIPAC, but it doesn't mean that KDE devs should participate in antipolonism. In Poland, national holidays are days off and are set up by polish parlament and are printed in Dziennik Ustaw: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dziennik_Ustaw Then they become the official law (after the usual vacatio legis). National Polish Holidays are for example Polish National Idepandence Day: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Independence_Day_(Poland). These are not the same as the aformentioned "pancake and grampa" days. It seems that the KDE Holiday Calendar (unlike for example Australias National Holidays) for "Polish National Holidays" has been polluted to obscure real national holidays. Just as if Germans and Russians wouldn't want you you to know about those "occupations", murders, Ribentropp-Molotov Pacts. They simply cannot stand that Poland exist. Unfortunately Poland has neither ADL nor AIPAC. It doesn't mean that KDE devs should be active antipolonist. (In reply to John from comment #3) > https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_Poland I didn't commit this as any slander. I did commit this as a honest response to a bug request. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=447201 The world is a complicated place and we can't be expected to know the history, culture and other issues that might cause hurt feelings. In fact I did review https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Public_holidays_in_Poland and all the holidays listed looked legitimate to me. Now, what exactly should be removed. I don't see pancake in there. Here is the current data: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kholidays/-/blob/master/holidays/plan2/holiday_pl_pl I see no "Pancake day". I do see "Grandpa's Day" which is listed under the "Cultural" category, not the "Public Holidays" category. All nations for which we have data have "cultural" holidays defined there; nobody is claiming that this or other "cultural" holidays are official national government-defined holidays where you get a day off of work. |
