Annotated screenshot demonstrating the issue (grayed out Color theme options when browsing a folder)

Gwenview has a color theme option in the View menu allowing to select Light, Neural, Dark, and Follow color scheme. (either it was introduced recently, or t was moved to the menu since the commit in 209c72... from bug #441447).

This items in menu is available when displaying an image but are grayed out when displaying a folder. To change the background when browsing folders, the user needs first to open an image, change the background using the View menu, then go back to browsing folders.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. gwenview /usr/share/pixmaps/ (or any other folder with some images)
2. Go to the View menu, try to change the color theme. -> not available
3. Select any image from the folder, try again 2. -> this time it works

Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we were not able to get to it yet. Can we ask you to please check if this is still an issue with Gwenview 25.08.0 (the latest released version)?
Comment 2 Jérôme Borme 2025-09-04 20:43:56 UTC
I can confirm it is still present in 25.08.0
