SUMMARY

On plasma Wayland sessions, the right click menu disappears again immediately after the first right click. The second right click then sometimes straight activates the first item in the menu and it disappears again. It needs multiple right clicks (plus closing windows that were opened from the unwanted activation) to get the menu to stay on the screen.

Additionally, the menu items in the context menu sometimes only appear after the mouse pointer has been hovering over them.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Right-click on an icon in dolphin or on an empty spot on the desktop (or anywhere else).

OBSERVED RESULT
1. click: Context menu disappears immediately
2. click: First menu item is selected/activated, then the menu disappears - this may happen several times
3. or later click: The menu stays on the screen and items can be selected. However, items may remain invisible until the mouse pointer hovers over them.

EXPECTED RESULT
Context menu appears and stays after one right click. All items are visible and can be selected via mouse pointer or arrow keys.

Is there a chance the menu disappears at the exact moment that a notification or tooltip also disappears? If so, this is Bug 427542.

That is separate issue, tracked with Bug 432264.

Maybe. Sometimes it concurs with a tool tip disappearing, but sometimes there is no tool tip and the context menu disappears (or the first item is selected before it disappears).
