Description valdikss 2022-01-31 22:02:06 UTC
SUMMARY
Starting neon-unstable-20220130-0332.iso from USB Flash on Lenovo ThinkPad X220 in UEFI mode results in black screen right after selecting boot device.
Turns out, for some reason, GRUB is not visible on the screen, but it works.
If anything is printed before switching to graphical mode, GRUB works fine.

The workaround is to add

    echo ok

on top of grub.cfg in ISO file

Please consider adding any echo string on top of the configuration or figure out if there any errors in grub or your configuration file.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Burn neon-unstable-20220130-0332.iso on USB Flash
2. Try to boot from this flash on Lenovo ThinkPad X220

OBSERVED RESULT
Black screen.

EXPECTED RESULT
Visible GRUB menu

Thank you for your bug report!
However this bug report was created/provided previous to 01/01/2023 and also has not received any updates since before 01/01/2025.
Unfortunately KDE neon no longer provides updates for anything older than noble 24.04 based edition's.
Please upgrade to KDE neon noble and if you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report.
Thanks for understanding!
