Thank you for reporting. This is a known issue if you have only single clips or single audio. This should be fixed with 21.04.1 https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/commit/f559aa5d3351e59ddbd1ddf7eb8a32929d0179ff Workaround: Put 1 A/V clip (contains video and audio) into the timeline (on the far end for example) and the spacer tool should work.
