SUMMARY


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. CLick Digikam icon to Open
2. Digikam starts to open
3. Digikam crashes, taskbar icon vanishes and no window ever was shown

OBSERVED RESULT

Digikam does not open
EXPECTED RESULT

Digikam should start up and show digikam window

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: 
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.2
KDE Frameworks Version:  5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The same happens with Digikam AppImage

output from terminal shows: ASSERT failure in KCatalogPrivate::setupGettextEnv: "You need to instantiate a Q*Application before using KCatalog", file /build/ki18n-git/src/ki18n/src/kcatalog.cpp, line 223
fish: 'digikam' terminated by signal SIGABRT (Abort)

I googled a little. You have probably installed faulty i18n-git packages. Install standard i18n packages.

Indeed it could be that, i18n-git as it seems the package installed by default on Manjaro, but can't confirm it yet as my Manjaro distribution only shows the i18n-git version and not the i18n in the officials repositories, I guess it's Manjaro fault here, I am contacting Manjaro, and meanwhile changing this STATUS to "NEEDSINFO" and will back later. Thank you for your fast support reply.

Confirmed buggy update on Manjaro distro, not Digikam fault, conflict with -git packages that dhould not have been installed.
