Same here on Gentoo Linux (amd64 stable, details below).

This has happened before in Plasma 5.12. I'd say this is either a regression or never got fixed at all. See this bug and its comments for details:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=389483#c3

Good overview of the issue, related bugs and possible workaround:

Adding these lines to '~/.config/kscreenlockerrc' worked back then and still works:
[Greeter][LnF][General]
showMediaControls=false

KDE Plasma Version: 5.19.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.74.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

Yeah you are right, I tried adding to kscreenlockerrc file the following lines :

[Greeter][LnF][General]
showMediaControls=false

and it seems for now it hides correctly the media controls.

humm, on my system an option to disable media controls is available if I click on "Configure..." button of Screen Locking KCM.

Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.20.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.76.0
Qt Version: 5.15.1

Sorry for not updating this report, after upgrading from 5.19 to 5.20 the media controls appear again, so it works perfectly for now on 5.20.2.

When I disable the media controls and click apply the following settings

[Greeter][LnF][General]
showMediaControls=false

are added to /home/med/.config/kscreenlockerrc
