The strange text is base64 encoded image data, so that itself is not suspicious. It seems to come from vscode somehow. It seems to be quite large and I wasn't able to decode it to an image, so I can't rule out that something went wrong somewhere How did you install vscode? I cannot reproduce this by pinning vscode to the task manager. Neither the oss version, the normal version nor the flatpak version Created attachment 131031 [details]

I installed from .deb downloaded from the website. I am running current stable Debian. It also garbled the images of the widgets library if I right click and try to add a widget. I don't see how the two things could be related. What graphics driver are you running? when I run lspci -v it says I am running intel UHD 620 graphics with the i915 driver and module installed. 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation UHD Graphics 620 (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. UHD Graphics 620 Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 126 Memory at ee000000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at d0000000 (64-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] I/O ports at f000 [size=64] [virtual] Expansion ROM at 000c0000 [disabled] [size=128K] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915 should I try the vs code bug tracking? I cannot duplicate this error myself, I removed all pinned icons and repinned them and the bug doesn't reappear. It appears to be fixed with no clear resolution. I can mark it as resolved if that's OK. I'm new to submitting bugs and only went this route because I couldn't find any mentions of this bug anywhere else. Thanks. *should I mark solved?* Thanks for the update; changing status. Well, it happened again. this time I can't find any junk in plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc. (see files). I'm grepping around to see if any related files have similar gibberish as before. I'm baffled. Created attachment 131662 [details]
