Showing such a popup with the option to delete the file is also the default behavior on Windows. *** Bug 439461 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** *** Bug 445546 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** In the meantime you can use Shift+Delete to delete a file permanently. "The file is too large to be trashed" notification is also not very helpful. I have tried to delete a whole bunch of files at once and the message doesn't tell me, which files are problematic and how to deal with the issue. I've added the "usability" tag therefore.
