SUMMARY
On my Kubuntu 20.04 desktop I have shortcuts to several folder on my desktop and have chosen my own icons to represent various content. But every time I reboot they revert to the stock blue folder icon.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create shortcut to a directory on the desktop
2. Change the icon - in my case to a custom picture my own user's directory
3. Reboot

OBSERVED RESULT
- The icon for the directory has changed to the stock blue kde directory icon.

EXPECTED RESULT
- The same custom icon I chose previously

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.18.5 (Kubuntu 20.04)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.68.0
Qt Version: 5.12.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Workaround
- Right-click desktop icon, choose Properties + Ok
- The icon reverts to the custom icon, until next reboot that is.

Same problem. It worked for months, but now desktop just forgots changed icons on boot (and i used KDE colored-folders icons, not personnal icons).

Fast workaround : CTRL+A on desktop, then ALT+ENTER, then ENTER.
