SUMMARY

I have observed this behavior for some time now. I am not sure if it has been reported. Sometimes when using digikam (I suspect when using the maps feature), a small and empty window appears. It doesn't affect digikam at all and everything still works, but it cannot be closed. The contents of that window will reflect whatever was shown on screen when it appeared. See attachment.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Start digikam normally
2. Open a map view or geolocation tool.

OBSERVED RESULT
Notice how a small windows (around 300x300px) appears on the top right corner.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS

Linux/KDE Plasma: digikam-7.0.0-beta3-20200414T071003-x86-64.appimage in Ubuntu 18.04LTS

One more note. This window comes from Marble. But I can neither reproduce it with my native digiKam version nor with the AppImage. So the underlying OS must play a role.

Aha. I can try other OS using a virtual machine if you wish. I remember seeing this behavior in my parents' computer too, that also run Ubuntu (not sure if 16.04 or 18.04). I don't recall seeing it in a windows installation, but I'm not 100% sure.
