Why?
Comment 2 Patrick Silva 2020-04-01 22:21:26 UTC
Default temporary directory was /tmp in previous versions of K3b.
Why was this setting changed? Workaround for bug 385367?
I have found no explaination about the purpose of default temporary directory setting in K3b handbook. Nero burning rom on Windows, for example, uses a temporary folder to cache files before and during burning. Is this also the purpose of default temporary directory setting of K3b?
If so, I don't think that a folder used to store personal data is a good location to store data that a software uses internally. It would as an internet browser saving images from webpages in /home/user/pictures by default.

So you opened a bug about something you admit no have no idea what it is used.

I'll leave it in reported state in case someone has some time to investigate whether your claim makes sense or not

Unfortunately I do not understand anything about source code.
I'm not a software developer. :)
And as mentioned above, K3b handbook says nothing about "Default temporary directory" setting.
