This is most likely an issue with the snap packaging. Do you know where you installed the snap from? Created attachment 124604 [details] kate.out Hi Christoph, I installed it via the command: sudo snap install kate which I found on https://snapcraft.io/install/kate/ubuntu Btw, launching kate in terminal, by /snap/bin/kate, yields the (error) messages in the attachment (I don't know how to interpret them).
